Lorraine Dancy's adventures begin when her mother dies and leaves her a letter that implies Lorraine's father isn't dead as Lorriane had been told all her life. He's living in Mexico and Lorraine wants to find him. Her fiance, Gary, doesn't understand her need to go and leave him behind. When Lorraine finds her father, living with his common-law wife and 2 children, it seems that her trouble begins. She's accused of stealing a valuable Mexican artifact and her father's friend, Jack Keller, is enlisted to help her escape. Their adventures are reminiscent of "Romancing the Stone" lore as they jump from one disaster to the next. A great summer read!

Not long ago, the only adventure Lorraine Daney experienced were in the movies--where the improbable becomes possible and the romantic becomes possible and the romantic becomes real. Now she's starrig in her own version of Romancing the Stone--except that this is her life. Her adventure begins with a trip to Mexico's Yucatan coast to search for the father she doesn't remember. She finds him, all right. She also finds herself in trouble-framed for the theft of an artifact and pursued by the police, the thief, and loval crime boss. Enter Jack Keller. Jack's a renegade who keeps to himself and makes his own rules. As a favor to Lorraine's father he helps her escape. In his boat. Just like The African Queen. But there are troubled waters ahead...including an attraction that's as risky as it is intense. Lorraine's not looking for another Brief Encounter, though. She wants her story to have a different ending altogether.

Lorraine Dancy meets Jack in the Mexican Yucatan coast as she attempts to locate her father. Adventure follows. Relaxing book. no brainer. Print is easily read. New book.

I enjoyed reading this book, although I felt the romance between the two was a bit rushed. The main characters go from hating each other to being in love rather abruptly. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable read; I'm a big Macomber fan! :)

A modern day version of Romancing the Stone
Lorraine Dancy has a very ordinary, unimaginative life. Her only adventures are experienced through movies. Now her life has become one big adventure taking her through Mexico's Yucantan to search for the father she doesn't remember. She is soon framed for the theft of an artifact and pursued by the police, a local crime boss and the thief. Enter Jack Kellar a renagade hunk who is a friend of Lorraine's father, who lives by his own rules.
Soon an intense attraction between the two develops along with troubled waters.
