After reading Mr. Niven's account of his own life, I was surprised to discover that I found him so very unlikable. This was an interesting look into another world.

This book is an autobiography of David Niven's early life in England, his military adventures, and his Hollywood career. It is filled with humorous incidents and poignant details. I recommend the book to anyone who likes
World War II or early Hollywood trivia. The book includes details about John F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, and dozens of other famous politicians, military leaders, and movie stars.

Niven writes for easy reading. His stories of his life in Hollywood and growing up in Scotland are delightfully unfolded. A must for anyone who remembers this actor from the mid century.

Fans of David Niven can hear his voice on every page. Others might imagine a story-telling session with a British Mark Twain --- lovely lanaguage spinning wonderfully hilarious and very human tales. The New York Times called it "a juicy, all-day lollipop of a book."
