Is anyone else into these books?  I love this series and found out they are going to be turned into movies.  Peter Jackson is involved, so I'm really excited!

Yeah, the movies should be pretty interesting/exciting! I like this series as well, though I wouldn't say I loved it. Are you Team Jace or Team Simon? :)

I think I feel the same way as Jennifer, and I bet for the same reason. :)

They're easy, interesting reads but there are some flaws and I don't love them.  One of the major plot points comes straight out of Star Wars.

Aw I love the Star Wars parallels!  I think they're funny.  These give me lots of warm fuzzies because of what happens to Simon and the fact that he's Jewish.  Never in any of my other fantasy reads have I seen that before.  (I'm trying really hard to make a point without giving anything away.)  Anyway,  I think for her first trilogy they're really great and she can hopefully only go up from here.

Definitely Team Jace.  Anyone else picked sides?

I read the first 2 books and have the last one that I haven't read yet. These books are hard for me to get into, I do think that it's one of the major spoilers. I really wanted to like these books, I just can't get myself to open the last book. I heard there's going to be a fourth book in the series.

Holly, I think it's a new trilogy set in the same world but years earlier - so no Clary, Jace, Simon, etc.

Britney and holly, you're both right. Cassandra Clare is coming out with the fourth book in the Mortal Instruments series, City of Fallen Angels, which is going to be from Simon's POV. She's also in the process of writing a new series, set in the same world except a century or two earlier, which explains the development of that race of people who were in the Mortal Instruments series (sorry, forgot the name at this moment...).

Okay - I guess City of Fallen Angels wasn't on Cassandra Clare's web site last time I checked it.

I've had mixed feelings about her writing since the days she wrote Harry Potter fanfiction. :P  She borrows A LOT from other sources.

The new series Steph was was talking about is The Infernal Device series. So far there's three of them: The Clockwork Angel, The Clockwork Prince, The Clockwork Princess
