i saw a book i was interested in and it said that it was audio cassette.  but then when i clicked on it, it said, downloadable mp3 format.  i don't know anything about this - how would this work on this site?  what do you have to have to 'read' this book?  why did it say 'audio cassette' at the top, if it's not?  i have an older generation ipod from my son and i have tons of music on it.  would i listen to the book from the ipod?  could i be sure there would be room for it on there?

I don't have any answers for you, but I saw this on the audio books for sale at the bookstore today.  I was wondering about it too...

They make MP3 CDS that you need an MP3 compatible CD player to work.  They hold a lot more than a regular CD. Usually a whole audio book on 1 CD instead of 7-10 cds.  I can only play those on my computer. So I download them onto my IPOD.

These are allowed if they are from the publisher. Homemade ones are not allowed.  You can't download a book from Audible.com then make CDS of it here and then post them. But an MP3 audio cd made by the publisher is allowed.

What audio book were you looking for?  It could be a error in the system that should be corrected.

Go to amazon and type in the exact ISBN that you are searching for in their search box.  See how Amazon has it listed.

It's possible that the ISBN for the cassette version was reused for the MP3 CD edition.

If the ISBN has been reused, then the one that's posted is probably the audio cassette, because how would someone post downloadable MP3s onto a swap site? MP3 CDs could be posted, but not downloadable files. You're right, it's very confusing...
