Fern Michaels is a good, if not somewhat predictable, writer. The story does have some interesting twists and I enjoyed going along for the ride. The characters were likeable and you found yourself rooting for them throughout the story. There is a budding romance, suspense, evil, some violence, corruption, money, a lovable kid, and a lovable dog. Throw all that together and you have a pretty good story. This is not a deep inspiring story but a good cozy read. Sorry can't tell you how it all works out cause that would ruin it for you, but it's a good read - trust me.

Awful, awful, awful! Time to retire Michaels. I could only make it half-way and that was forcing myself. I started rolling my eyes 10 pages in and if I heard about "the hat" one more time I think I would have thrown the book. When one of the characters started 'talking' to a ghost, I gave up. Get it together Michaels or give it up!

I've always loved Fern's writing. While this was an ok book, I wouldn't dare try to ever read it a second time because I barely got through it the first time. Just didn't capture my interest the way her's always has. I hope others find it to be a better book than I. It will not stop me from reading any future releases though, that's for sure.
Actually, if it weren't for all the cursing and what-not, this book would actually seem to me like one of those fantasy books for teens. As you're reading you're thinking the whole time, "how in the world could any of this be so in a real life setting"...
