But Malcolm and Molly foil his run-away attempt, so he has to take, as he says, other steps. Toad knows the time has come for him to resort to something he has saved for just such an emergency--his Do-It-Yourself Book of Practrical Witchcraft. The manual includes, among many interesting chapters, one entitled "Hexes and Evil Eyes," and another called "How to Make Your Enemies Powerless." The results he obtains are really astounding.
This is a wonderfully funny and magical book that I just loved as a child. It was the only one of this three-book series that I read as a child and it made a great story by itself without having read the other two. I still enjoyed it very much when I read it a couple of years ago.
