Mrs Tim Flies Home (Mrs Tim, Bk 4) (Large Print)
Mrs Tim Flies Home - Mrs Tim, Bk 4 - Large Print Author:D. E. Stevenson The story begins when Mrs. Tim says good-bye to her husband (who is stationed in Kenya) and flies home to see her children and to spend the summer in England. Bryan and Betty are now grown up -or nearly so- and their mother finds it difficult to adjust herself to a new set of problems. There are not only family problems to tackle but also those ... more »of her friends, for as usual Mrs Tim's interest in other people involves her in their troubles and she feels it her duty to try to straighten out their affairs.
The little English village of Old Quinings is a very different setting from the wild Border Country depicted in Mrs Tim Gets a Job: here we see the countryside immortalised by Constable, a cosy, peaceful scene. But although at first sight it appears so very quiet and leisurely, the village provides plenty of scope for Mrs Tim's activities, and there are plenty of amusing incidents to recount in her diary.
Those who have read the other 'Mrs Tim' books will meet some old friends -Tony Morley, Grace MacDougall and her twins, Annie and Bollings, and the faithful Symes, for instance- but there are new friends as well to play their part in the new story. The squire's beautiful daughter provides romance, Mrs. Daulkes and her offspring provide comic relief, and the snake in the grass is the curious little old lady who lives next door and rejoices in the name of Miss Crease.
