I am writing this book to you to warn you. There are lots of mysteries out there and this one is just not worth your time. I am not overly critical of the Cozy genre. I get that there is a formula. That is ok with me.

There are many problems with this book. One that irked me is that they kept saying that a person who was going to commit suicide would not run off and have a spa day a few days before. That is dumb, and not enough evidence. In fact if a person was planning suicide they might just do a big last hurrah.

But besides that constant inane proof that this wasnt suicide, the book was dull, and repetitive. The characters were not distinct enough. In one part, there is a pet on the MC's lap named Daisy and I was thinking is this cat or dog? When did we meet Daisy? This happens with all kinda of characters, they just show up and we need to know who they are. This is poorly done.

Some of the characters were novelists, but that was not even well done. There area some police officers who were the love interest kinda, but by page 100 he still hasnt come onto the scene, since he was not the officer on the scene of the crime.

The last 3 chapters are the killer talking about how it all happened and why. Three chapters!

Can I gripe about one more thing? The first novel in the series always seem to be a poisoning, I mean is that a rule or something?

This is a new series - and a good start. A little edgier than most "cozies". A host of characters, which is a little hard to keep straight at first. During the mystery book group meeting, one of their own dies. It's labeled a suicide, but Hazel seriously doubts that Carlene would kill herself - especially after having a spa day and an upcoming luxury vacation. She sets out, with the help of her sister and on again/off again boyfriend, to solve the mystery.
