Murder on a Girls' Night Out - Southern Sisters, Bk. 1 Author:Anne George Patricia Anne -- "Mouse" -- is respectful, respectable, and demure, a perfect example of genteel Southern womanhood. Mary Alice -- "Sister" -- is big, brassy, flamboyant, and bold. Together they have a knack for finding themselves in the center of some of Birmingham's most unfortunate unpleasantness. — Country Western is r... more »ed hot these days, so over impulsive Mary Alice thinks it makes perfect sense to buy the Skoot 'n' Boot bar -- since that's where the many-times-divorced "Sister" and her boyfriend du jour like to hang out anyway. Sensible retired schoolteacher Patricia Anne is inclined to disagree -- especially when they find a strangled and stabbed dead body dangling in the pub's wishing well.
The sheriff has some questions for Mouse and her sister Sister, who were the last people, besides the murderer, of course, to see the ill-fated victim alive. And they had better come up with some answers soon -- because a killer with unfinished business has begun sending them some mighty threatening messages...« less
If the rest of this series is as good as this, I'm in for some good reading! Two sisters - in their sixties, in the South. Likeable characters, nearly believable situations and a very well "scripted" mystery. I'm only sorry that Ms. George has passed away and there won't be more than the eight she wrote! A great sense of humor and a strong sense of self! I think you will enjoy this book!

I read this whole series and loved it! We were sad when we discovered Anne George had passed away, because we would have loved to read more from her. Four generations of us have read these books (my grandma, my mom, my daughter, and myself), and we all loved them. I even bought them for my mother-in-law, and I wouldn't buy her anything that was offensive in any way. There are some funny innuendos, but the book isn't offensive or obscee, just funny. The interaction between the sisters is delightful, and the relationship of the one sister and her long-time husband is very real and sweet.
Highly recommended to anyone. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!!

I read the reviews on this series and read them all. I have never laughed so hard at these two sisters. My husband always knew when I was reading an Anne George book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Oh, this was cute! I loved the interaction between the sisters. I also enjoyed the fact that it was "Mouse" (Patricia Anne) that tells the story, because we get to see exactly how much of a backbone she really has! There are several scenes that really made me laugh out loud, and the mystery kept me going until almost the end. I'm glad I've already got the next few... They're getting bumped up to the top of the TBR list!

great quick read, I hope to read more of the series soon.
Hysterically funny series! They are set in Birmingham, AL. Unfortunately Anne George is no longer with us, but I know she has them ROFL in heaven! This whole series-6 books I think-are really good.
