Fun, cozy mystery. First in a series. Gets a little caught up in inane details, like how long it takes her to get from one place to another, but overall, enjoyable. I'd recommend it, and I'll be reading the next in the series--when it comes up on my wishlist, that is.:)

FIRST TIME I READ THIS AUTHOR. WILL BE READING MORE OF HER BOOKS.
This was quite an enjoyable book. The narrator tends to go on about some things but I found that I didn't mind that so much. This author has a unique way making such a narration seem conversational rather than boring. It was as if Desiree was telling me about her grand adventure over a cup of coffee. It gets a 4 out of 5
Desiree Shapiro is an older queen-sized P.I. with her first murder case. She would not even be involved in it if it the murders had not taken place in her niece's apartment building. There are too many suspects with shaky alibis and each tells her his or her own lies. Funny, entertaining and keeps you guessing.
