Skye Dennison has a hunk remodeling her old house. He is not very reliable especially after he is murdered. One more of the Scumble River series.
Skye has inherited a house from an elderly women (killed in the last book); the house is in need of repair so she hires a contractor, after checking references. Turns out he is not a good contractor, so the people who gave her the references lied - did he have something on them??? When he turns up dead, things get real messy, real fast. So does Skye's love life....she has broken up with Simon, Wally has made his move.....who will she pick? Another winner in the series! I love Skye and her family.
Enjoyed the mystery. I like seeing the progression of the characters.
Eighth book in the Scumble River mystery series. This story finds school psychologist Skye Denison settling into the old house which she inherited from Alma Griggs. Of course, the house needs a LOT of work, so Skye has hired a remodelling contractor named Beau Hamilton to make the necessary repairs. Skye isn't at all happy with Beau's progress on the house remodelling, though, and then she returns to her home on a Friday evening only to discover a mortally wounded Beau Hamilton unconscious in a boat tied to her dock. When Beau is pronounced dead, Skye quickly finds herself as Sheriff Peterson's number one suspect in his murder.
In addition to trying to clear herself of Beau's murder, as always Skye has a very busy and complicated personal life which adds to the enjoyable story line. In the previous book, Skye and her boyfriend Simon Reid had called it quits, and now Skye is dating Scumble River police chief Wally Boyd. Only Skye and Simon's mothers are both scheming to bring Skye and Simon back together again. Also, Skye's beloved cat Bingo has gone missing, and Skye contines to search for him in the woods surrounding her house. And Skye's brother Vince has a secret that he won't even share with Skye. These mysteries are further compounded by mysterious break-ins to Skye's house, where she can tell that someone has been in the house but nothing appears to be stolen. All these story lines are nicely tied together in the conclusion to this well-crafted mystery.
Denise Swanson's series gets better with each book.
Great book in this series
Great book. I love the whole series.
This is the latest in the series and up to snuff. I always enjoy these books.
Scumble River is a very busy place. In her eighth outing, Skye Denison is back to her old tricks as she tries to define her relationship with police chief Wally Boyd, uncover brother Vince's deep, dark secret, locate her lost cat and solve the murder of sexy contractor Beau Hamilton.
She must be out of ideas, this book is not as good as the previous ones in this series.
VERY clever story. Beautifully written!
School psychologist Skye Denison is involved in another murder - and a new romance. This time it's a contractor who is renovating her house - and she is left with holes in walls and roof and a mystery to solve.
The contractor Skye Denison hires to get her inherited house back in decent shape is a real hunk. But his renovation skills turn out to be less than stellar. Is that why someone murdered him? Amid a new romance, Skye works to discover the truth. An enjoyable read. Eighth in the Scumble River series
I always look forward to a new book in this series!!
If you want an easy to read book, Denise Swanson is your writer. She is a delight. I've not found a one of her books I haven't enjoyed! She can definitely put a lift in one's spirit even with a dark subject. If you haven't read any of her books, this is your chance!
