This is the first book by Margaret Truman that I have read and I am looking forward to others. She really brings us into the supreme court and its workings.

The Chief Clerk to the Chief Justice was found murdered in the courtroom...

When young Clarence Sutherland was discovered sitting in the Chief Justice's chair with a hole in his head, the question of course was, why?

Who would want to kill such a bright and handsome young man? The answer: Practically everybody

Think this was Margaret Truman's most famous book. Who would commit murder in the country's most sacret hall?

Ms. Truman knows the ins and outs of Washington, and her book reflects it. Kept me guessing till the end.

In my opinion, there was no build up to the arrest of the killer. It just sort of happened. It's like there was no climax in the book at all.

Clarence Sutherland is dead, and it takes a roundabout method to find his killer. The path takes us round Washington DC, so that along with enjoying the book, we also get a history/geography lesson without realizing it! Margaret Truman is the daughter of President Truman, and uses her inside knowledge sothat we. too, can understand at least a small portion of the workings of the government.
