Just thinking of something else this morning (must be my day huh? lol)....is it ok to swap music books on here? When I say music books, I mean books that are used for guitarists or pianists with music in them (I hope I'm explaining myself correctly).

I pretty sure -- but I sure hope so as I've already done it.

BTW -- does anyone know if there's a way to turn off the blinky images in the messages?  Is there a setting in my browser? Or a preference.  These things are giving me a headache.  Thanks.

Ivy:  do the music books have ISNB#'s?   How many pages in them?  I do not think they can be posted, but I am checking my fellow Tour Guides about it.

Most music books do have ISBNs -- I was able to find a couple already in the database.

Karen; just  because they are in the database, do not mean it is correct to post them.  As I said previously, I am checking this out and will post an answer on this thread.

I hope so, because I have some band music in my wish list that I would like to get for my clarinetist daughter.  If it isn't allowed, pop me a PM if it is for clarinet or flute (or recorder and mondolin for that matter) and I will buddy the credits for them.

I have received MANY music books  through PBS, and I love them all.  Unlike read-able books, these music notation books I will hold onto for a long, long time, because I like to learn and play the music in them.  Got one of Enya's albums this way in book form, as well as all the Beatles' music, Elton John music, classical music...whatever.  It's GREAT that I can get music books this way when they show up on the listings.  I play hammered dulcimer and piano.

Ivy, thanks for the Dan Fogelberg blinkie.  I've been in a total funk since I heard the news last night and it's nice to see a small tribute to a great  musician.

You can only turn off blinkies. I have blinkies turned off ( I hate them) and signatures left on.  I like to see signatures to see what deals, freebies and such people are offering.  But the blinkies get out of control.

June, I'll be watching this topic to see what you learn about posting music books.

I have one on my wishlist, a book of piano arrangements by Jim Brickman.

I've been thinking about gathering up all my many, many music books and posting some of the ones that I no longer use.  And all of them do seem to have ISBN's except some of the really old ones.  So I'll wait to see what you find out.

Ivy & Jan;  I researched it and found out as long as the music book has an ISBN#, it is OK to post here, as long as it does not have any advertising in it.  If no ISBN#, it is not postable.  If the book is less than 20 pages, that must be included in the description.

ETA;  The above statement is slightly misleading. I meant to say if the music book is a pamphlet, leaflet or booklett, it is not postable without an ISBN.  If the book is 50+ pages, it is considered a book and can be posted without an ISBN#.

This is from the Help Center.

Pamphlets/Booklets/leaflets without ISBNs: These sometimes contain advertising; members also complain at having to pay a credit for these.

  • Leaflet/pamphlets/booklets with ISBNs may be posted: if so, the number of pages must be included in the item description.  (leaflets/pamphlets  have less than 20 pages;  booklets have less than 50 pages.)

So, all you guys looking for and posting music books, all is ok.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!   ....   :)
