I do not believe this is a mystery with Hercule Poirot.

I love Christie and was looking for something a little different from Poirot and Marple when I stumbled upon The Mysterious Mr. Quin, and loved it. This book is a collection of several short stories told from the perspective of Mr. Sattherwaite, an elderly English gentleman who is more akin to witnessing the dramas of others' live than taking on the main role. Then Mr. Harley Quin enters and helps prompt Sattherwaite into beoming a key character himself as he figures out the unsolved mysteries of the aristocratic and artisitc circles he keeps as company. Each short story has its share of twists and wit we've all come to expect from the Queen of Mystery, Agatha Christie.

Not your usual Christie mystery, this one verges on the supernatural as the mysterious Mr. Harley Quin arrives on the scene of mysteries and enlists the aged Mr. Satterwhite to set aright the affairs of men.

The wind rose in a mournful wail, and as it died away there came three loud knocks on the big nailed door. The tall, dark stranger strode across the doorway of Royston just after the stroke of midnight, making his entrance like an actor on cue. Mr. Harley Quin's appearance sparked new life into the quiet New Year's Eve gathering, for he was no ordinary guest. He had come to unmask a murderer.

A haunting collection of short stories that should be read for atmosphere and romance rather than mystery. Mr. Satterthwaite is an excellent character, and Mr. Quin is perfectly remote and beguiling. Christie builds wonderful depth into the scenarios with very few words and leaves the reader feeling the sort of queer ache that the best faery stories evoke. This collection is unique in her canon, and it must be taken on its own terms, but it is superb.

The Mysterious Mr. Quin gives you many problems to solve, and a chuckle over Agatha Christie's entertaining and subtle humor. One of the most popular mystery writers of all time.

One of Christies better mysteries. About a mysterious Mr Quin who appears whenever the "I" of the book writes. There is a Mr Satterfhwaite who needs a mystery solved in the opening chapter.
