I enjoyed the writting style of this book. There were many passages and phrases that I stopped and reread because they just caught me -- saying so much, so accurately, in so little words. I give Ms Stewart high marks for her writing ability. The story itself was a quick read and did mannage to captivate my attention, though I never had a friendship anywhere near what was discribed. The twist didn't work that well for me . . . created some gaps in my expectations of the book. I really didn't see it coming so for a twist it was successful. The particular copy I read had some extras after the story. I am glad the two 'deleted scenes' were removed.

this book held allot of promise. the author seems to have failed in really fleshing out the characters better.even though the book captures female friendships, it does not capture mature friendships.

This is such a sweet story of two friends that made me both laugh and cry. Anyone who has lost a childhood best friend will enjoy this book. I especially liked the character Oliver.

I hadn't read anything by Leah Stewart prior to this book, so I took a chance and used a credit. It sat on my bookshelf for several months until I picked it up two days ago. Now I'm almost done with it. It's a great read that captured me right away. Good book.

A good story and quick read about the friendship between 2 girls from the time they are teenagers until they are twenty-nine. The characters are very real and the friendship, with all it's ups and downs, very believable.

This is the story of friendship between two 15-year-old girls that continues through college and ends abruptly when one of the girls betrays the other. They are separated for a decade, but circumstances lead one of the girls to search for the other. As Cameron searches for her long lost friend, Sonia, she learns that there were many things that she never knew about her friend.

I felt it took to long to get to the point of the story & how difficult to have relationships that overlapped & overlapped & OVERLAPPED. Also the jump from the present time & the past got confusing.
Obviously not one of my favorite reads.

But don't let that stop you o.k.?

I really like this book. I feel like I identified with the main characters so much. Not only did the subject matter hit home in a number of ways -it's just written so well- that I felt like the author was in my head. Stewart's tone, style, detail and thought process felt so familiar and real. Definately a great read about life, friendships and the elements that make them falter. On top of it, there was an air or romance and mystery to it that really tied this all together in a great little package.

I found this book to be a wonderful read for anyone who has ever had "a best friend." I found myself relating to the main character in ways that suprised me. It was a quick read that I could not put down. I would not go so far as to say, "Order pizza, because you won't want to stop reading to cook." But I would definitely plan on sandwiches!

Really good story of a woman who long ago ended her friendship with her best friend. If you have ever ended a freindship with someone (whether intentionally or you just drifted apart), this book is for you.

An engaging story of friendship; two wommen who met in early adolescence and became inseparable, until a casual betrayal ended the relationship as they completed college. Now, almost ten years later, one reaches out; the other has no intention of responding but finds that her mentor has fashioned a way to compel her to face the past and the friendship that has shaped her life.

A real upgrade on the usual story of friendship and betrayal. Great female characters steer the plot; this would make a fabulous movie.

I read this book in 2 nights. I really liked it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the ending wasn't as good as I hoped, but it was still worth the read.

Taken from Target Review:

When Cameron was 15, Sonia was her best friend. No one could come between them. Now Cameron is a 29 year-old research assistant with no meaningful ties to anyone except her aging boss, noted historian Oliver Doucet. When an unexpected letter arrives from Sonia 10 years after the incident that ended their friendship, Cameron doesnt reply, despite Olivers urging. But then he passes away, and Cameron discovers that he has left her with one final task: to track down Sonia and hand-deliver a mysterious package to her. Now without a job, a home, and a purpose, Cameron decides to honor his request, setting off on the road to find this stranger who was once her inseparable other half. The Myth of You and Me, the story of Cameron and Sonias friendshipas intense as any love affairand its dramatic demise, captures the universal sense of loss and nostalgia that often lingers after the end of an important relationship. Searingly honest, beautiful, and full of fragile urgency, The Myth of You and Me is a celebration and portrait of a friendship that will appeal to anyone who still feels the absence of that first true friend.

A very thoughtful look at growing up and having a BFF who you think you will know forever. Circumstances change and that friend does something dramatic and emotional to trash the whole relationship. This is a book to read if you ever have lost a close friendship and wondered why or how it could dissolve - and what happens when you meet up with that person years later.

I really enjoyed this book about the complicated relationship between female best friends in the growing-up years. I had a similar relationship, so I could really relate. This book is also about forgiveness. A very good summer read!
