Just like watching "Castle" on TV. The books read like a television show, but not strictly as a script. The scenes are described completely, the characters are well-written and the storylines unique enough not to get boring or trite. Though, as with most mysteries, there is a certain amount of predictability. Overall easy, enjoyable read.

If you are a Nathan Fillon fan, once again, comments/remarks reminding one of his cancelled TV show, Firefly, make an appearance.

I loved the book and look forward to No. 3. It was funny and suspenseful. A good read. Good chemistry between Jameson Rook and Nikki Heat.

A fun followup to the first Nikki Heat book. This mystery is a little more involved. I liked it.

Book 2 of the Nikki Heat series was just as good as the first! I love that they cross market Castle by actually producing the books he is writing in the show. It makes watching the TV show that much more enjoyable!

I enjoyed the book all in all. There were a few plot situations that I thought were obvious and yet it took the characters the entire book to figure them out but a fun read.

As always, Richard Castle keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book! I'm so thrilled that they've made a TV series out of these books!!

I enjoyed this second book of the Nikki Heat series. It's was fun remembering scenes from the television series Castle and seeing how they are portrayed in the book. I also enjoyed seeing the character Richard Castle thank the actors in the acknowledgements.I look forward to reading the third book - Heat Rises.

I know I started off my review of the first Nikki Heat book with the disclaimer that Im a big fan of the TV show Castle, and that my devotion to the show would undoubtedly color my review. Im going to tell you right now, internets, that while I am just as devoted to the show as I was before, I dont feel that disclaimer is warranted in this case. And no, I was not contacted by Hyperion or ABC to say any of thisalthough, if yall are reading, I would happily accept meeting Nathan Fillion as a reward ;)

In all seriousness, while I am not much of a mystery reader, I am a reader in general, and I found this to be a decent book all around. Sure, you needed some historical knowledge of the characters to fully understand the story, but as the second book in a series, that makes sense to me. A lot of what happened in this book more relied on the characters history in the previous book, rather than the history on the TV show. And I will admit this is somewhat flawed, as the first book kind of relied on you being a fan of the show, but I will maintain that overall, someone without any of that historical knowledge could read, understand, and enjoy this book.
