After reading all the hulaballo about her, I finally decided to try one of her novels, Desert Warrrior.   I wasn't impressed.  You can read the review here if you're interested.   Can't figure out why she's so popular.  Thoroughly mediocre, IMO.  What am I missing?

I've never read her category books, though she is one of my favorite authors, and the one you read was her debut.  She's known (and loved) for her paranormal Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter series.

Ditto what Karen said.  I've only read her Psy-Changeling series and I love it.

I haven't read any of her categories and I'm not planning to but I love the Psy-Changeling series and I'll be starting the Guild Hunter series soon.

You really need to give her two series a shot.

My guess is that the book you read was probably one of  her earlier books.  I don't read those little categories that often but I never judge an author by them. They're just too short.  It also seems like a starting point for many author's and so not necessarily their best work.

what the others said - I think it's Annette Blair who wrote a couple of witch trilogies - I think they were popular so people went for her backlist and well I read one of them and it was ok but not superduper great.

if you hate paranormal though you probably won't like these. I'm hesitating 'cause I'm scared they're scarey! plus can't find which box I put them in.

I despise paranormals -- don't quite understand the attraction -- so I guess I will skip the rest of Singh's books.  I was looking for a new author; I guess she wasn't it =(

I only remember seeing so-so reviews about her earlier Harlequin stories, so I can see you not getting all the buzz from just reading those..  Then she branched into the paranormal and started getting those raves, found her genre.  I love both of her current series, but especially the Psy-Changeling series.  If you don't care for paranormals at all, guess these wouldn't be for you.  I can see that though her Psy-Changeling series has shifters (wolves, cats and others), they are different from a lot of other shift series - there aren't many actual shifting scenes, not too out there as far as that goes, more she shows those shifter traits in their human personality more.  So one who might like some paranormals but not many may want to try the series.  It has very good world-building, a romance that is completed in each book, but an intriguing ongoing plot.
