I found on my account under "Books enroute to you" a chack mark that allows my to see the book on its way here!  That's so cute.  I wonder why it's only 1 out of 7?  The other six don't have this option.  Do that many people not use DC?

Yeah, I like the little truck, too!

I think maybe 10% of the books I've received have had DC, but I usually order smaller paperbacks that are under 13 oz and therefore don't have to be taken to the post office.  I know that I only use it when I'm sending a heavier package and don't have time to make the extra stop.  Of course,  now that I need stamps and have time to go to the PO, no one is ordering anything big from me.  Funny how it works out that way. ;)

That truck driver gets a little crazy sometimes, might be a drinker or something ;), but don't take the path literally. He's been know to drive out into the ocean, go backwards, and just take the long way to sight see in other states. Maybe it IS representative of our postal service :0 j.k.

No kidding.  I received a book yesterday (in West MI) that hadn't been scanned since CA, so the truck was showing up somewhere in the vicinity of Lincoln, NE.  I wondered if maybe he just has a really good throwing arm.  Former NFL?

Have you clicked on the truck, with your volume up?

Oh no!  My speakers are in a box (this room is being put back together, computer first, after having the carpet replaced), so I'll have to give it a shot once everything is back up.

Now I'm intrigued!

Ive always used DC (except when I ran out of ink that time) cause it helps support the site and keep it free. I use the printed postage now though cause I can print it and no matter how big the book is I can either stick in my mail box or drop it in a blue box and I dont have to deal with going to the PO and waiting in line or figuring out the postage in stamps.

Yeah, I prefer to rint out the postage and DC here as well.  I have an order of 5 books that have gone missing.  I had DC on them, but they're MIA.  Wonder where that truck ended up?  LOL!!

I've heard various discussions of this as to whether the site benefits financially from the DC....if you feel it does how much of what you spend on DC does the site actually get?

DC cost is $0.27 from your PBS account plus $0.18 added to the postage.

This page in the Help Center talks about how to use PBS-DC and how the site makes .27 for each use of DC.

I rarely receive a book with DC...but I have never sent one without DC and now printed postage.

I read all the worries and complaints about books : that are lost, not marked as received, etc etc---and wonder why people don't use it. It's mighty cheap "insurance" and costs pennies.
