Needlepoint Designs From American Indian Art
Needlepoint Designs From American Indian Art Author:Nora Cammann This book presents 20 designs for pillows, stools, belts, slippers, and other articles, derived from the work of four Indian groups - those of the Southwest, the Great Plains, the Pacific Northwest, and the Eastern Woodlands. Some of the designs are representational - deer, fish, birds - and others are abstract. All are striking and although tra... more »ditional in their original forms they seem entirely contemporary in adaptation.
Each design is illustrated in color while diagrams and close-up black and white photographs show exactly how to work it. A variety of stitches is used to give the work an interesting texture and each one is carefully explained. Although nearly every design has been worked on canvas any of them can be adapted to crewel work techniques.
