Hey everyone!  I'm hosting a bracket-style book battle on my blog this summer, and I was hoping I could get some help from everyone for nominations.  The only requirements for the books are
1.  It must be a YA book
2.  It must be a debut work by an author (i.e the first book they published)
3.  The publication date must be between January 1st, 2009 and March 31st, 2010

So does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I'm also looking for volunteers to help judge the brackets, so if that's something you might be interested in, send me a PM.

Thanks!

Hi Alisa - the only book in our household that fits your criteria is Young Samurai:  The Way of the Warrior  http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9781423118718-Young+Samurai+The+Way+of+the+Warrior

I haven't read it yet, but my son loved it!

You should take a look at www.feastofawesome.com for 09 debut releases or the 10ers livejournal.

Here are some I've read that fit that category -

  • As You Wish by Jackson Pearce
  • Shrinking Violet by Danielle Joseph
  • Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading by Darcy Vance and Charity Tahmaseb
  • Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Oekler
  • Prada and Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard
  • Candor by Pam Bachorz
  • The Espressologist by Kristina Springer
  • A Match Made in High School by Kristen Walker
  • The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

I really liked "The Sky is Everywhere" by Jandy Nelson. It came out March 9th.
