I went to the post office on Friday to mail one book. They had a sign on the door saying they couldnt take debit cards. I was like crap as thats all I had on me...I asked them if they would please try and they said it was a nationwide outage and that it wasnt likely but they would try. It took my card and I took my receipt and was on my way. I have entered the pid number and am just getting accepted at my post office. The book is just going one state over. Today I took 4 books to mail (all books that have much further to travel then the one I took in on friday). They are all already at the next post office. Usually the books leave the post office I leave them at the same day. It was late in the day Friday. The book that doesnt seem to be moving is going like 4 hours or so. I thought all the books here left from the next big city not my small town however. This book I dont know if with the debit system being messed up something else was messed up. Would this worry anyone else?

No, I don't think you need to worry. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a scan. I just took a look at the tracking info for the last batch of three books I sent, all mailed at the same time. Usually mail dropped in a blue box in my town gets its first scan two days later in Bell Gardens, CA and then it heads out towards a sorting center near its destination. However, for this batch of books, only one was scanned in CA. The other two didn't get scanned until five days later in Jersey City, NJ and Springfield, MA. I don't know if half the scanning equipment in CA wasn't working, or the packages were sent by a different route, but they all arrived seven days after I mailed them.

If there are no scans in a week, then you might go back into your PO with the tracking number and ask them if there's anything to be concerned about.
