I am now following through on my threat to never accept RC's of any kind again.  I had a requestor who had an RC of "No large print books and no hardbacks." My book was neither and I sent it. She RWAP'ed with the snide comment that I need to learn to read RC's better. I sent her a trade paperback not a large print book. She's claiming I sent her a large print book in violation of the RC. I not a psychic and couldn't divine from her RC that she didn't want books with print larger than mass market paperbacks. I know this was a garden variety trade paperback because I read it before I posted it. So now I'm going to get another unresolved on my record! The last one being a nut who claimed I sent her the wrong book because the cover of the book I sent her didn't match the cover on the book description. On the bright side, I've sent out many, many books with no problems. But, when I do get a problem swap, it's a dilly.

This swap will not hurt your account because if PBS were ever to look at your records, they will be able to see the messages on both sides. Since your requestor is mistaken, it shouldn't hurt you, whether or not she marks it resolved.

I'm not sure why you would decide not send to anyone else with a RC, though. If you've sent out many many books without problems, and presumably had many other transactions with people with RCs that have gone just fine ... why would one bad transaction make you stop?

Just like each transaction with people without RCs has no bearing on whether or not the next completely unrelated transaction will go well or not ...  your next book request with RCs will have nothing to do with this transaction or this receiver.

Well, I should amend the no problems with a few problems, mainly with odor RC's.  When someone RWAP's a book I sent claiming it smells like cigarettes, I have returned the credit because I have no idea where a book has been before I had it. That is why I don't except odor RC's on books I received used. But, the above problem has now made me leary of all RC's.

Ummm, if the receiver didn't want larger books (such as tradesize) then why did she have it on her wishlist.  That's unfair to RWAP you because she didn't do her homework  sad

Yep, I'm guessing the receiver is confused about book terminology.

I think the book receiver thinks that "large print" refers to the larger printed size of trade sized paperbacks. (Meaning she doesn't want the "large printed size" of paperback).

To be fair, there are a lot of ISBNs that are reused for both the MMP and the trade size of a book ... so she may be ordering the correct ISBN ... but if she only wants the smaller books she needs to describe that in her RC as "mass market sized paperbacks (or smaller pocket size paperbacks) vs. trade sized paperbacks" and not as "large print".

So, if I were the OP, I might ask the receiver to elaborate on what exactly, she thinks "large print" means, and then give her some education on what things are actually called (if she does, in fact, have it wrong).

I just added a RC to wrap the book in plastic to protect it from dampness. I have received several books that have been damp recently. One book had very poor wrapping, using just plain paper and very little tape so the wrapper was half off by the time I got the book. I live on the second floor, my mail slot deposits the mail on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. If it's been raining or snowing a lot it is damp there. So far everyone has followed through and none of my books have come damp.

How often is it said in this forum that people have as much right to create RCs as people have to refuse them? There are enough people who want books that you don't have to deal with RCs if you don't want to.  Sorry it happened to you, Sarah.  Can't say I blame you for being upset.

Problem is fixed.  Requestor now understands the difference between large print, trade sized, and mass market paperbacks.  She had her terminolgy confused. She didn't want books larger than mmpb. She is going to change her RC. She apologized and matter is resolved.

Too bad all RC/RWAP situations aren't as easily resolved, huh?

Some members have hand strength, arthritis, or other health issues and cannot hold larger books.  Other members have eye issues and prefer the larger print of hardbacks and tradesize.

Glad you could help her modify the RC to receive what she needs.
