Farley Mowat is an incredible writer. I have read many of his books and he has the ability to take you right into the story. This one is about him studying the wolves, even living with them to see how they live, what they eat, their society. This is a true story and so well written.

Farley Mowat is a Wonderful story teller. Take a nonfiction tell/report and sprinkle in a dash of fiction here and there, makes a wonderful story. I can see the controversy on if this is real or not, he does a half job of the research part. He goes into areas of why but does not conclude with an answer because he does not do any follow up or continue the research, just assumes. This book should have been published as fiction and it would have been welcomed with open arms. I am very happy I read it, been on my list for a long time but I am just going to have to give it three stars, it lacks real overall views of the big picture of the life of the Wolf.
