So i went to walmart, looking for the new releases this week and i came across Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris in Paperback form...snatched it up right away as I have been on the list for MONTHS. Anyways so i type in the isbn number on the book to post it to my TBR...Doesn't exist :/  It literally is not in the PBS system but there is a paperback of dead and gone listed...just not the isbn i have. Strange :P

That has happened to me too.  And then the next day, it is mysteriously in the system?!

I seen books before with (Walmart edition) in the title somehow.  I am wondering if Walmart is so big that they have books printed just for them, with different ISBN numbers.  Did you try that ISBN on Amazon to see if it came up there?  I think if you notify PBS they will add it.

Just searching for the number should trigger the system to add it.  Try again (about an hour later).

I could be wrong, but I don't think the paperback is due for official release until the 5th or the 6th of this month. Maybe that's why?

I looked it up at Barnes and Noble and that's what it says.

That's cool you got a copy of it, I've been waiting patiently to get it. I usually buy my Sookie books at Target but I just might have to take a trip to Walmart tomorrow!

I think it is the walmart edition. It has a Permanent walmart "read of the month" embedded in the cover. Oh well as long as its the same story i'm fine.

Some bookstores are not careful about when they shelf new releases, Walmart is famous for it.

well the paperback edition that is on the site was set to release 3/31 so don't think it was really put out early, but it probably is just a walmart edition of it. I was just happy to get it :) been on the wl for the hardback since last june.

I have had the same thing happen when I buy books in Target. I noticed it said Target book club addition. . Makes it tough when you want to use the book for swap

I got a paperback of Succubus Blues at Wal*mart. It was not in the system, could not find the ISBN on Amazon, or even on Wal*mart's website. It doesn't say Wal*mart edition on it, but I guess it is. There is no indication on Amazon (or at least when I looked) that said there would be a mmpb of Succubus Blues coming out. I was just happy to have it. This is also a series that makes the cut for my keeper shelf, so I just buy them rather than taking them out of the PBS system. I'd love to replace my mmpb with a trade paperback someday, but for now it's just not a priority.

i emailed a TG and she told me that i could add it to the system under the "post books" link and i can just input all the info there. So it'll be the only one in the system :D I'm kinda holding it for now even though i've already read it just to see if someone else eventually posts it to the system lol. I'm lazy and don't wanna make it complicated to post it. I know it was a huge wl for it :D

I put a tag on the main listing when I have a secondary number.  Something like "also listed under ISBN xxx".  Helps get the book moving.

Outside vendors stock the books for the company and they are notoriously early or late putting the new releases out.  Most of them prioritize and work the electronics section first (they also handle resetting some of the movies/music in that dept).   I've lucked out and found books early but also not found them until a week or so past the release date--I've purchased elsewhere by then in some instances and it bugs me because I spent more for the book elsewhere.

Can't stand those permanent promotional imprints on books--the stickers are bad enough although they have become easier to remove--but I really don't like Targets big red white and black circle on new release covers.

I have had this happen before, and found out it was a typo in the ISBN number on the back of the book.  I then double checked the ISBN inside the cover and it came out right.  Did you check the 2 number on the inside of the book as well as the title page?
