This book is fascinating! My husband and I bought the book originally because we are fans of John Cleese in the British tv show Fawlty Towers. In one of the episodes, Mrs. Fawlty is reading this book. Obviously, it was essential that we purchased this book when we saw it!

The story line is riveting and the ending was somewhat of a surprise to me. The story was not at all as I expected, but it was really interesting and sometimes intense.

This book is about an orphan boy and all the events that happen to him as he grows up. It's sad, yet it's happy. It's a romance, yet it's not. It's about having nothing, yet also having everything. It's about choices and how they shape a man.
