I just received a book, but on my account it still shows that it hasn't been mailed!  It was marked to be mailed by yesterday, but the system didn't cancel it or send it on to another member.

This is a further mess because the book has some water damage, or is it pickle juice?  The stain is yellowish green.  UH-OH!  Maybe the doggy pee-d on it!  =0(

SO, I can't get a credit back because she hasn't gotten my credit yet.

Can anyone help me untangle this mess?

Thanks!

I think the first thing to do would be to PM the sender and have her mark it mailed and then go from there marking it RWAP.  If she doesn't answer, the request will timeout and move on to the next person in the FIFO.  Hopefully, you will get a better version of that book, and you will have only spent the one credit.

Lisa--

Follow the instructions in the Help Center on contacting the sender about not having marked the book mailed: http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/help_item.php?id=286  Check and be sure, while you're at it, that since she didn't mark it mailed, you didn't order a second copy accidentally, since it would have bumped you to the next person in the list if the transaction timed out.  If a second copy is already en route, there are PBS policies that cover that too -- check the help center.

When you let her know about the mailing problem, tell her also about the damage to the book and politely ask for the return of your credit.  Obviously, once you can mark the book, it should be RWP.

Cheers,

Catt

I'm skeered!  The last time I asked for a credit back...well, it wasn't pretty.  I know, I know.  It's for the good of all mankind.  Or at least all PBS-kind.  I already PM'd her and asked her to mark it mailed and explained about the damage and lamely asked for my credit back.  Now hopefully she'll mark it in time.

Thanks!

Lisa

I think technically if it's not marked mailed, you don't have to mark it received.  So if you end up with 2 books because the request was passed on to someone else, you will not be out 2 credits.  The book request might be pending with someone else already.

ETA: Was yesterday the date they had said they'd mail it by? Or was yesterday the 2day mark in which it woud time out?  You have 2 days after the mail by date you selected to actually mark the book mailed.  So if they said they'd mail by the 12th, they actually have until the 14th to mark it mailed.

I guess I'd rather get my credit back, since I don't really want 2 copies of the book.  I mean it's readable, if I don't let my imagination get carried away speculating about the origin of that stain!  I know I could repost the second copy, but there are so many copies of this book available I might never get my credit back.

Oh well...only time will tell. =0)

You can cancel the 2nd request up until the label has been printed.

Since you received the book before another one was ordered, you really need to mark this one as received. The only time the HC allows you to not mark a book as received is when it times out and you get a second one through the FIFO system.
