It might be that you are not abbreviating according to the USPS standards.   That gets the "unable to confirm" message.

This is either a USPS problem or you are not using the standard form of your address. Go here: http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp. This is the USPS official site. Enter your address and click submit. What does the next screen say?

If it says "You Gave Us the Building Address", then you need to enter one of the apartment numbers shown. PBS can't accept general building addresses if there's an apartment number assigned to any other unit at the address.

If it says "Your Address My Be Undeliverable", then you need to go talk to your Post Office and get them to update the database.

If it says "Full Address in Standard Format", then copy and paste the address exactly as shown at USPS.com into the PBS screen.

I once had a similar problem when I moved into a new housing development.  I actually had to call UPS and Fed Ex to get them to enter my address into their system.  The PO was a little faster getting the address into their system.

Oh, that's too bad. Do you have a work address you can use while waiting for them to get their system updated?

I receive this problem quite often through Live Help.  Here is what the PBS Team has told me:

The member needs to ask her local Postmaster to have her address added to the USPS online database as a valid address. In other words, when someone uses the Find a ZIP Code tool at www.usps.com and enters the address, it needs to come back under the heading "Full Address in Standard Format".

If an address is not in the USPS online database that does not mean that we are saying (1) the address does not actually exist or (2) the address does not receive mail. It is merely a clerical task to keep things working in the online world in which PBS operates - the address must appear in the USPS online database.

Getting the USPS database updated usually takes a few weeks.   If her local Post Office is unable to assist her, then she can call 1-800-ASK-USPS for help.

If there are multiple addresses used for your building. You need to contact the PO tell them which office/apt you are and ask them how your Standardized address needs to be.

If you input your address into the +4 page onUSPS (http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp) it will chage it if it can, or it will give you a variety of addresses that might apply, tho none of them will be quite complete. You need to find out what is missing and only the PO can tell you this. HTH.
