I'm glad that they added the note option to the wishlist.  I'm using them for what I used the tags for.  They aren't as convenient as the tags were, but they won't annoy anyone either! I'll just have to keep a tab open to check against it.    Mostly what I used them for didn't have anything to do with anything but the place in line on the WL!!

Thanks for adding this option!

When I was looking at that feature, I was having to click on the button to see whether I'd left a note on that book. I'd love it if my notes just follow my books around and show up where ever I see that book-- on my wishlist, reminder list, books I've requested, books on their way to me, transaction archive ....

Remembering to check whether I'd put a note there was driving me bonkers.

I think the notes do show up no matter where you are looking at the book!   I just tried looking at an author's name/books listing and when I clicked on the several books the note was there!

did you see where you can add a public header to your bookshelf?  that is really cool too.  I put that I am a non-smoker and have a dog.  someone else said that they used it to advertise their specials

hmmm... I didn't see it (the note). I think the place I'd most like to see it is on my reminder list and on my front page. I have recently found I reordered a couple books that I didn't remember I had recently received (and in one case, it was still in transit.)

Are you clicking on the "note" button in order to see the note? I would like it to show like the tags do. If I go to my bookshelf, or wishlist, etc. everytag I have ever put on a book shows there on the list. (Without me pushing "tag" to see whether I left a tag for it, or not.)

(Am I being as obtuse as I feel like I sound?)

I know! Every time I make a "note" for a book, I'll also tag it with the word "note". That way, when I see the book (and the tag), I'll remember to check what the note was!

Except even my tags don't show on the front page where it lists "books I've requested", etc. My ideal would be to have my note (showing which box the book is housed in) show up right along with the book on "Books Requested from you".

(I don't mean to be complaining. I just hope they are still refining that feature.)

I don't know whether it is new, or if I had just missed it before.. I realized today that whenever I've put a note on a book, a little sticky note appears on the cover image! When I hover on the note, it tells me what my note says. I am finding them much more useful now and am working on converting all of my "personal tags" to notes.

Can you make a personal tag that no one sees but you?

I know it's a silly question.

Karen - all Tags are visible for that ISBN to all members, there's no way to hide them.

Thanks, Melanie...

I was kind of hoping I could tag members in my buddy list or in the transaction archive.  I want to mark good traders and those I have gotten damaged books from.  With so many people, I can't keep them all straight!

I just used the notes feature to mark all the books that I am first in line for on my wish list. I also marked a few that I have on there that I don't think I will ever get, but I am curious to see if the line is moving (if anyone else is getting them).

Karen, use your buddy list to note people you don't want to trade with.  Or, do want to trade with, or whatever.

I hate that you can only see it if you hover. I don't use a mouse, and any "hover" feature is very difficult to use - at least the tags were just visible without any further action.

This site is becoming less and less accessible to people using non-standard interfaces.

Karen, you can tag your Buddy List and only you see it. Just go to "Manage Tags', create a tag name, put a check in the box on the left side, then go to  the tag  you created, click it and it will show up in red under the name.

Book Journal puts the tag on each book with the space it's in.  The tags show up everywhere, and you don't have to hover.  Clicking them shows you the whole list for that "space".  The space also appears on requests - which doesn't happen with the notes OR the tags.  So Book Journal would work well for some of the uses mentioned here.

I just figured that when you say "book journal" you are talking about a paid feature of PBS that is available in the kiosk. Even after going there and reading about it I am not sure how (or whether) it would work for me. Can you explain more about it? I am particularly interested in "spaces". Is that like a virtual box, or shelf or something? Can a particular book be in more than one "space"? Do I have to own the book (or have it on my transaction history, or something) to put it in a space?
