I was just checking out my wish list and saw a button on the right I have never noticed before.  It said "Expand Wish two more".  How cool is that?  It takes away the pain of having to search for all the ISBN's and book versions.  I did have to be careful not to accidentally wish an audio version.  I don't do audio.  I can't imagine sitting in my living room listening to someone read me a book.

It is a great feature! It is new, but not as new as you. It went into effect 2 days before your member since date.

So, it is great, but it is not totally reliable. It only works for books that PBS knows are different versions of the same book. There are a lot of books where PBS does NOT know this.

If I am particularly interested in a book, I always search the title to make sure that I have wished all the ISBNs.

I used to feel that way too, but find I actually do enjoy them while exercising. It is hard to get used to the slower pace, but it's enjoyable in a different way. I doubt I'd ever listen to one if I could read instead though.

Like Willa--I love audio books as well!  I listen when I excercise, on my commute to and from work when I'm doing housework...listening to a book makes folding clothes and washing dishes much more enjoyable!!

If I'm just relaxing though I prefer actually reading.

Audio is great for driving.  I get audio books from my library to load onto my MP3 for long trips.

ETA  This feature was added on 11/3/09.  They talked about it in the newsletter.  Also under What's New.  So, pretty new.

Actually, the system used for this does not appear tp be the same as the one linking books where they show on the bottom of the screen and seems to do a much better job. I have 2 books that I recently got 2 versions of because they looked nothing alike and the buggers rearranged the authors so that it wasn't noticable at first glance. I sent in feedback about getting them linked and they said the optimizer shows them. Yet they do not show any other versions listed on their details pages. I think I had at least a half dozen books on my Wish List that didn't list other versions, but the optimizer found alternatives.

Yup, I've noticed this! But I have also noticed that there are quite a few that it doesn't know about, just from my list of 200 books. So, I can only imagine that there are tons it still dosn't know about  in the DB, too.

For the first time EVER, just a few days ago, I added a new book listing into PBS and while I was still looking a it, it found the other versions of the book and linked itself up to them. NEVER seen that happen before, but it was pretty cool. If the system can keep doing that, I wold be pretty happy!

I would love love love a linking tool that could be accessible to members who want to link different versions of the same books together (subject to approval from data edit team, of course). I know I would spend time doing it now and again, just like I do with book data edits.
