Hello,

I am new here, and just had my first book requested.  Of course, it wasn't anything easy like a small paperback; it is a hardcover with a plastic comb spine (a cookbook).  I've read all of the information in the help files about wrapping books for shipping, but want to make sure it reaches its destination safely (especially since it the first one!).

Are there any experienced members here who could give me a few tips on safely packaging larger hardcover books for shipping?  I don't have a lot of book-sized boxes.  Any tips at all would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!

Janet

Cereal boxes, cut them up and wrap books in the cardboard.   Once you have been a member for a while, you will have used padded envelopes.

Please, do NOT re-use priority mail packing or envelopes.

A good quality packing tape is very important.

For hardcovers I use padded envelopes and packing tape.

I always use cereal boxes when shipping hard cover books.  I just stick the book into the box and then pad the spaces with scrunched newspaper.  The recipients always comment that the books arrived with no damage.

Thank you all very much for your responses and for your warm welcomes!  I was able to locate a box, and will be able to mail this book safely.

Thanks again!!
