Hi Christine,

Welcome to Paperback Swap!  I have gotten lots of great books on here.  I don't have any recommendations for history, but just want to say hi.

For World History or American History?

Welcome - I H.S. a 13 y.o. son.  My 11 y.o. daughter has always been in public school (multiple special needs)

Hello. US History. I have  a secular book but it's all politically correct and stuff. Doesn't really cover the real history, ya know. Leaves a lot out and bends things a bit. I will use it but want to find one that tells the truth for next year. Anyway, thanks for saying hi. I appreciate it.

Look into William Bennett's "Last Best Hope" series.  There are three books (I've rec'd them all here on PBS) and a great website.

There's also Joy Hakim's "History of US" series, which is great.

And a site you can use with the books:

The Teaching Company Great Courses have some history titles.  Most libraries stock them:

The high school American History course is currently on sale for $80.  But check your library first.

I just discovered this forum too. I have been on Paperbackswap for awhile, but never noticed this homeschool forum. I am currently hs a 10th grader, 7th grader & 3rd grader.

For US History, I really like the Joy Hakim History of US. Then we read a lot of historical fiction books. There are some really good ones out there on US HIstory. Check out the Newberry Award books. I hope this helps.
