Is it just me or is it affecting anyone else? I'm going to write to PBS but want to make sure it isn't just me. I checked my settings and I'm good to go.
Thanks! |

Seems it might be a Hotmail issue. I have also sent a message regarding the problem. |

2 days ago I got email saying a book couldn't be sent due to RCs and was being put on my Reminder list. I never received an email about the book and never requested it. None of my books are on auto request. Then I re-requested w/out RCs. Never received an email but now the request is gone to transaction archive. Then today I saw someone requested book from me and I did not receive email for that. something is definetely wrong. Thanks, Dean |

If you can see the emails on your Club Communications page here http://www.paperbackswap.com/members/club_communications/index.php, then PBS sent them and the problem is with your email provider. Somewhat randomly, certain email providers will decide that someone sending out bulk emails is spamming their users, and these providers will block all incoming traffic from that domain. When I worked for a company that sent out email newsletters for non-profits, the most common offenders were AOL and Yahoo, but Hotmail and various other providers also blocked us occasionally. With AOL in particular, this happens because someone subscribes to an email list and then when they decide they don't want it any more they mark it as spam instead of just unsubscribing. All email providers have a way to get someone off the black list, but unfortunately, it can take a couple of weeks for these requests to be processed. You can help by contacting your email provider's customer support and asking them to stop blocking emails from paperbackswap.com. PBS also needs to know that emails aren't getting through to certain domains so they can also contact the email admins at the blocking domains and ask to be white listed again. The two-pronged approach where the recipients and the sender both contact the email provider usually works best. Also, if you haven't already done it, go to your Safe Senders list online and add paperbackswap.com there. If you download your email and use the app on your computer or phone to read it, then you need to go into the webmail interface to do this. For hotmail (and all other MS email services such as live mail, msn mail, office365, and outlook.com), it's here: https://outlook.live.com/mail/options/mail/junkEmail/safeSenders. You will probably have to login with your hotmail address and password first before this link will work. |

Cathy,
PBS is on my safe list...and they aren't going to my junk folder. Last Edited on: 1/15/19 11:56 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I am not getting PBS notifications to my Hotmail. Checked the Club Communications this am and there were a few sent to me. Checked my Hotmail account and these emails were not in the Inbox or Junk. This is new, Monday, January 14th, in the morning I was receiving the notifications. Last Edited on: 1/15/19 12:11 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Me too Meme! |

Michele - it sounds like Hotmail is blocking incoming mail before it ever gets to the user's inbox then. The only other thing you can do is contact Hotmail support and PBS support so they both know there's an issue. |

Thanks Cathy! I'll do that now! |

Hotmail is not helping..this stinks! |

I've had my hotmail account for 24 years - they are notoriously bad with customer support unless you have a paid account. I had a paying MSN account for years but nowadays I access mine through Office 365 (which I also pay for btw). The 'contact us' process is clunky. You put in a request and a 'support engineer' is supposed to contact you back via email. I'm waiting for a response now...
ETA: I just submitted a ticket to outlook/hotmail to see if they can do anything. Last Edited on: 1/16/19 2:23 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have ourtlook with MSN and have not received any emails from PBS since the night of 1/14. I left feedback and they replyed saying it was my email provider but the messages are not in my junk mail or other mail. There are just not there yet I can see them under club communications which means I have to check that several times a day. I have never had a problem with outlook from any other site. This is frustrating. |

Same here... hotmail, no messages in junk mail, on safe sender list, etc How do you contact hotmail? Has everyone contacted pbs? |

|

PBS is telling me it's hotmail's fault, I went to hotmail and clicked on help, then found a contact us..they said they'd contact me.. It's frustrating as hotmail is my only one I use ..I have a work one but am not going to switch to that. |

I have Hotmail and discovered this morning a book was requested from me last night and yet I never got an email. Never had an issue before. |

I know this is really painful and nobody wants to switch email providers, but one option is to open a Gmail account and use it only with PBS until Microsoft/Hotmail gets their act together. You can connect multiple email accounts to all common email programs, so you would still use whatever interface you use now to read your Hotmail, and the PBS messages would just show up along with all the others. If you use the outlook.com web interface, instructions for adding your Gmail to your existing account are here: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-your-other-email-accounts-to-outlook-com-c5224df4-5885-4e79-91ba-523aa743f0ba |
