I tried out the new Nook in store last week and had to have it. I've had it since Friday and the battery (after reading 2-3 hours a day) is at 87%. Unbelievable! I LOVE it!!! It's so light too...Yet it doesn't feel cheap. The rubberized feeling of the device is so nice. I really like it!

Only complaint is that I wish it had 3G too. But I can deal.

I tested it out the other day too. I want to get one before we go on vacation first week in July! Not sure what I will do with my original Nook but I really love the new one!

The new Nook doesn't get internet, right?  That would be a drawback for me.  My Nook is my only web device outside of my computer.  If it had that, with all the other features, I'd think about it too (well, if I had money...LOL)

The new Nook *does* have internet...B&N wasn't advertising it as having it, but it certainly does! I've used it.

I'm thinking of asking my sister in law if she wants to buy my old one. She's gets on my last nerve but she's the only person I know that likes to read. The rest of my family aren't readers.

You could post it on craigslist too. That's how I sold my Nook Color.

Colleen, now that's strange!  Because everything I read (reviews) early said it didn't have web access.  I wonder how they got it screwed up?  I use my Nook to browse the web all the time.  It's how I read blogs now.

If that's the case, I am jealous.  I only got my Nook in February.  I would have waited if I thought another one was coming out that my family could have afforded for my present.

Edited:  I was reading on one forum that it looks like the web access isn't widely known as if B&N hadn't quite finished the feature yet.  Is it true that you can put in an exact URL but you can't actually search the web?  (Or, are people just slow to figure out how it works?)

Not sure what I will do with my original Nook....

You could post it on craigslist....

I just listed mine on eBay. I usually resell my electronics to Gazelle and get a good deal but my Nook 3G/Wifi wasn't going for much with them.

I figure with the case and light included I could get more than what Gazelle offered.

I'll probably try Craigslist if my sister in law doesn't want it. Colleen if you don't mind me asking...what made you decide to sell the Nook Color? I know you were thrilled with it when you got it.

My eyes were less thrilled by reading it...I use the computer daily for work and when I sat down to read, I found myself picking up the eink Nook and never the NC because it hurt my eyes. I was mainly using it for Angry Birds and since I already have that on my iPhone, it was really a pointless device for me. If it didn't strain my eyes to read it, I would have kept it.

Also, I read a lot outside and even playing with the settings and using an anti glare screen protector on it, it was still way too much of a mirror to read in direct sunlight.

Thanks for sharing. That's good to know. I was kinda toying with the idea of getting one but since I spend most of my day in front of a computer I probably wouldn't like it for reading either.

I played with the new Nook Touch (e-ink) a couple times and decided I had to have it. (My first e-reader.) I was quite annoyed that they don't have any for purchase in-stores, though. Not in my area. They've received those pre-ordered throught he store, or "reserved" by customers through the store, but no more. So I ordered it this morning, on-line, and I'm supposed to get it by Wed.

As to the browser. All they are advertising is access to B&N own site and posting to facebook, or maybesome other social networking sites. (Didn't pay much attention.) So ... I'm hoping to be able to access PBS for my WL, RL, etc, but other than that, but not counting on it for much.

Still love my new Nook Color.  It does not bother my eyes.  But, I have not read anything on any other ereader either so I really have no comparison.

xengab, I have a Sony Touch, PRS-600.  It has a drawing feature where you can write on the screen with the stylus and it saves what you write.  Very nice for taking a quick note when you need to.

I'm totally lost with the ereader selections. I have the sony prs 505 - one of the older ones - not wild about where the buttons are for turning the pages and don't like the formatting on some books. was leaning towards a nook but how does the internet surfing work? is it wifi or do I pay a monthly fee for 3G or what? Is the kindle still only for kindle books? I thought the nook because I have a lot of sony adobe books but then I think epub is different or could I convert them? I dont' want to re-buy these books.

Kindle is not just for Kindle books. I rarely buy them from Amazon.

If your Sony Adobe books have DRM then I don't know what reader you can use them on other than your Sony. If they do not have DRM you can convert them to work on any reader you want.

Susanna, I've never bough Sony books.  But, I know folks have talked about them and how they use them on a Nook.  If they are ePUB, they should work with Adobe ADE.  This information should help you:

Sony makes you install their ebook management software to download your puchases from their store.  Once they are downloaded (in Adobe Digital Editions format with DRM), I use Calibre to sideload them onto my Nook.  Not the easiest process but it works.

I'm not sure but I think the earlier stuff on my sony is pdf and some wasn't bought from Sony but Elloras Cave blush and I got the pdf since someone told me that worked on the Sony. Now the library's overdrive is about 50/50 with epub and pdf - the epub works but sometimes I have problems with the ereader losing the content or it being 'protected' when I checked the night before and it opened fine. this whole thing is just confusing to me. I lke being able to have tons of books in such a smal space and being so portable yet trying to convert stuff and dealing wtih DRM is a pain in the booty.
