Thanks for the interesting link Bob.  I often wonder who the people are that these surveys claim to have contacted.  A majority of Americans probably do say that they are religious, or believers.  But I truly believe that a lot of these people are afraid to not say so!  It's just a part of our culture, at least right now, to say you believe in God or are religious.   I think there are a lot more unbelievers or agnostics in the US, but they just don't admit it.  Especially if they have been brought up in a religious household.  I know it took me a long, long, long time to admit that I don't believe and probably never really have.

I don't have a problem with people being personally religious (by this I mean not bringing religion into government and public affairs).  I do believe, however, that as civilization progresses, we will become less and less so.  Look at Europe - they aren't nearly as religious as we are.  And I think it's because they are an older civilization and also have experienced devastating wars on their soil.

it would interest me to know what part of the country this survery was conducted because to an extent religious beliefs differ depending on what area you are in.

I don't think it is representing pagans well.    I looked at North Carolina - and it says they have about the same as GA. No way.  NO way.
