Good luck on your first year! Imogene's Antlers, Amelia Bedelia, and lots of ABC books (like Shiver Me Letters: a Pirate's ABCs) are great. I hope this helps!

I'd suggest Level One books from any of the following series:  Hello Reader!,  An I Can Read , Ready-to-Read, Step Into Reading, Puffin Easy-to-Read

Any low level holiday books to read around the holidays.  Students of K-1-2 seem to love Clifford, Mercer Mayer, Amelia Bedelia, Curious George, Berenstain Bears.  A personal favorite of mine is Polar Express to be read.
