My daughter-in-law says a post office employee told her that any Media Mail sent from one island to another within the State of Hawaii must first be shipped to the mainland. Supposedly this is a new policy. Do any of you USPS employees know if this is true?

Thanks for any solid information you can provide.

No idea, but they do weird stuff like this to Hawaiians all the time. It's possible that USPS has closed their sorting facility in Hawaii....which would seem inefficient for freight and handling costs, but USPS isn't exactly famous for either efficiency or sense.

Just Media Mail or all the postal rates?  B/c here in Washington, my Media Mail is sorted at Federal Way, but First Class goes to Kent, and various other rates are sorted in Seattle.
