So now that the Christmas trama is over!  What is everyone going to do to celebrate the new year?  I live in a cul-du-sac (spelling?) with 7 other neighbors.  We have had a tradition for the last 6 years of bringing out our barbeques into the middle of the street and have a mini block party.  The kids run around, we cook, talk and yes get a little tipsy (only after the food has been cooked :).  It's so much fun that neighbors from the surrounding streets are now joining in.

Rose that sounds so fun! I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood where we did that kind of stuff!

For the last 3 or 4 years we have gone out to a hockey game, came home watched the ball drop and drink some wine. We really haden't talked about anything for this year. Yesterday DH brought up us going to the game but I'm not sure. I have been so dang tired lately I don't know if I can last all night!

Everyone be safe out there!

Our first years together, we went to a fixed price dinner at one of the gay clubs in town, but that got old as we got old(er) LOL.  Then we started buying "special" gourmet foods to munch...Brie, French Bread, Stilton, fruit, shrimp cocktail, crackers, etc.  Things that were pricey  and we didn't get often or couldn't afford on a regular basis.  Now money isn't much of an issue for us but we still like our  at-home party and have continued it.   The last 4-5 years we've been joined by our daughter and granddaughter who both go to bed long before the ball drops! It's quiet, peaceful and fun--probably boring, but we like it.

This afternoon our wonderful neighbors invited themselves over to pitch in for New Year's Eve dinner so we'll be adding that in this year! We have regular pitch-ins in our neighborhood, too, Rose, always at our house.  But you can bet in Indiana, they aren't outside!!  LOL

I don't think we are doing anything this year. I'll make pork and Sauerkraut on New years eve. Take down the tree and clean house. I like to start the new year right.  New Years Day we stay in our PJs untill about 3 Then it is time to get ready for the Party...... Rose Bowl and Penn State FANS!!!!!  We are going to a friends house to watch the game. We cut the cable 4 yrs ago. I know it will be a wild time there!!!

Kristi, sorry to hear that you have to work.  My DP had to work over Christmas, but it was the first time in 5 years.

Sarah, the game sounds like fun!  Once you get there you'll perk up. That's what happens to me.

Sharon, no I don't think having a barbeque outside in Indiana is the thing to do for New Years.  LOL  My DP and I used to buy stone crab claws for dinner every new years eve.  That was our treat.

Erin, I love to hear everyone's traditions for new years.  The Cuban tradition is to eat 12 grapes when the ball comes down.  Also to fill a bucket with water and wash the front door stoop.

Game night for us!  Maybe watching the ball drop.  Last year I was out bar hopping, after which I didn't want to get out of bed for 2 days.  This year I just want to stay in and have fun with my pals at home.

We had two different invites, one of which was planned a couple of months ago, so that's the one we will be attending.  It's in the next (very close) town over at a friend's house.  Just a few couples (mostly lesbian I think) will be there and we'll sit around & chat.  I don't know if I'll make it to midnight and besides I have to work on NY's day from 9am-11:15am. Ugh.  We've been going to this friend's house for the last couple of years.  I don't like to go out much on New Year's eve, since I don't trust all the other people out on the roadways that night.

Rose - your NY's eve get-together sounds wonderful!  Even though (right now) the weather is pretty mild for this time of the year, it's still a little too nippy out to be grilling.

Charlie, if you lived closer, I'd invite you along so you wouldn't have to be alone.  Of course, the fire sounds nice!

I don't have a whole lot planned.  A friend who lives about 20 minutes away is having a party so we may go.  But these days I can barely stay up past 9 so it may involve taking 2 cars so Greta can stay up until midnight with her friends and I can leave when I need to! :)  I'm more excited to have the day off on New Years.

We got invited to a NY eve party for the first time ever. We're so excited. So even though we aren't really late night people, and we usually enjoy our NY eve at home, we're going to that this year. They are providing a chili dinner and champagne at midnight, we have to bring our own other drinks and a munchy to share. Haven't figured out what we are bringing yet...

I will be starting testosterone on New Years Day.  :-)  I got the packets yesterday and since I was told to wait a few days to let another medication start to work, I figured I will wait for New Years.

Tonight, we are hoping to have a nice night out.

Thanks Rose, it didn't and I nearly spent Jan 2 in the emergency room.  Apparently I was knocking on death's door for a while there.  It's an all stop on nearly everything and one of my meds was changed.  I have to delay my T until at least Jan 29.  :(

Not even close.  Currently on hold with the doctors office as I appear to be experiencing some form of cerebral hypoxia which makes my ability to even type it a miracle.   Now I am probably not going to end up in the ground though I am really really not feeling well.  I can barely read... this is a sucky start to the new year.
