I'm not  huge believer in resolutions but the local college where I work out is closed for winter break.  My next opportunity to hit the Gym is January.  Anyone have a work out resolution?

I hope to run and visit the yoga studio more often.

My resolution is to take off this last stubborn 30 lbs this year!

I'm starting a diet Friday.  Can't do it tomorrow, maybe a bit but not heavy duty dieting.  I also want to excercise on a regular basis.  I got the tapes all set up.   lol

I too would like to lose 30 pounds for the umpteen time!!!!!  I know what I need to do but life just seems to get in the way everytime I get on an excercise routine.  I have a nice area in my basement with tread mill ,music, and workout cd to do.  I need acountabliity to some one!   I wish I had someone close to me to work out with but since I work nights and sleep days hard to find someone, and we are all soo busy!  Maybe if I keep busy reading i won't snack so much.  Thanks for listening:)

I'm recovering from penumonia/bronchitis which has plagued me for the last six weeks and also from a bulged disk in my lower back.  I haven't worked out much at all in that time and am just now easing back into it.  I've been an avid exerciser for years doing pretty intense workouts at home.  I like Cathe Friedrichs, Tony Horton (P90X is great), etc.  However, I think I need to re-evaulate my workouts.  I've made some interesting discoveries while I've been off exercising.  Do I really need to work out that intensely?  I'm thinking no, although I do enjoy kicking my own butt with a workout.  LOL!

My goal for the new year is to devise an exercise rotation that keeps me fit and healthy yet doesn't over stress my 41-year-old body.  I've always done yoga regularly, but I intend to move yoga into the forefront of my exercise rotation and focus on that.  I'll add in some cardio and some weight lifting sessions for the upper body.  I'll do barre-type workouts for the lower body as weighted lower body work is not good for my back.  So, basically my goal is to rebuild my exercise routine.

Good luck to all with their goals!

Going back to low carbs / no sugar -- it's the only thing that works for me.  Plus, keeping up with at least a twice a week yoga class.

I'd like to ease into yoga, maybe take a class at the Y one day a week.  Shelley, I'm a very intense exerciser as well and so far it's ok for me, but I want to do this for the rest of my life so I think I need to start learning exercise that is not so hard on my body.  I like to run, but it does seem I always have an ache here or a pain there, and at 33 I probably should not feel like that!  I'm also doing cycling more instead of running, and notice I feel better without all of the impact.  Weight training is something I'm also trying to do more regularly - my legs are very strong from running, but I am not balanced at all on top.

I also plan to try getting pregnant in probably 9-12 months, so by then I will need to be doing a less intense routine.  And I'd like to be eating healthier - Lean Cuisines for dinner are not going to cut it if I'm pregnant!  I've already started taking prenatal vitamins, but would like to get a better, healthy diet especially on weekdays where I am not very disciplined right now.

Leola -- I fall off the wagon so much, I think I need a seat belt! I already slept late this morning and missed my 930 yoga class that I swore I was going to be at bright & early!  I think an accountability thread would be a great thing.  At least I'd feel like I wasn't the only one starting over and over and over again :)

Michelle - I too was in the same boat.  Even though I was working out, I didn't always feel good.  Aches here, pain there, stiffness, fatigue.  A lot of that stuff is a sign of overtraining.  The best thing to do is listen to your body and workout or not accordingly.  I think we can definitely stay active our whole lives, but we need to do so with awareness and like it not, ratchet off the intensity as the body asks for it.  Yes, exercise is vital but like anything, moderation is the key.  We're all different.  Some can do intense workouts almost daily for years and years.  Others need to mellow out.  LOL!  I am such a believer in yoga.  It's such a perfect form of exercise that can be done one's whole life. I hope you are able to start taking some classes!

Monica, I understand just what you are saying!   I made a accountabliliey thing in my profile.  I'[m going to cross off the days I do excercise and see if it helps any.  I did my tead mill today but no body toning.  maybe if i do tread mill this week and add the body work next week and I will be rolling for the new year. I hope!

Ok well. I'm shooting for a 930 yoga class monday morn.  I already cheated food/drink wise this weekend, but I know I'd feel good if I were exercising and the diet will naturally follow.  Plus, I'm doing that push up routine that someone linked on this forum.   It seems easy enough and not too time consuming....and like I always say, something is better than nothing.

21 body wedge looks interesting.  Never heard of it.  Has anyone used a bender ball?
