I recently joined this site and I'm a Disabled Stay-At0Home Mom who has many books to trade and aspires to aquire many new-to-me books as well.  I was wondering if anyone can suggest ANY ways on how to helpbuild your Referrals in a Legal and Free manor, such as Blogger.com and other sites which allow you to mention things like this.  I would really appreciate any help that can be given, please messege me directly, my name on here is MagickAbounds and real name is Lesley P.  (I have already sent Ref. invites to ALL my friends and Family, so now I need some good, creative ways to get my banners for the site clicked on so that I can earn extra credits for books.)  Thanks everyone for reading, I hope someone out there can help me.

I have a link on my blog and tell friends about the site but that is about it.  I've gotten a few referrals but don't worry too much about it.

Plus when you send out books you'll be getting credits and next thing you'll know your TBR pile is MUCH larger than you ever expected and you have to put yourself on a book ordering ban until you whittle it down...or at least that happened to me!  :o)

I've never gotten referral credits.  I used my early points to buy deals on the bazaar & build up my TBR pile.  I did buy credits a few times but now I've got a big TBR pile & plenty of credits to be used when somenting comes up I can't miss.

I don't think blog posting or mass emailing (read: spamming) people is really going to get you referral credits. If you want credits, maybe try the Book Bazaar forum where if you post a special, people may snap up more of your books and you'll have more credits and new-to-you books rolling in. Good luck!

I have only gotten referrals really from friends of mine who I turned on to this site.  I think it has only been 2 or 3 total.  If you post a lot of books (and offer deals) you'll start racking up credits quicker than you think.

I have not had that much luck with referrals either, but have you checked out the Spread the word page here on PBS under Community? www.paperbackswap.com/spread_the_word.php

It has lots of different ways to let people know about PBS.

I personally have had more luck offering specials in the Book Bazaar and finding books at the thrift store to post.

Good advice from Cindy -- if you're not sure how to go about editing the listings on your shelf, any member of the Data or Image team would likely be happy to answer questions, or you can find a lot of info in this thread: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=60867

A lot of folks DO judge a book by its cover, so images and descriptions really help your books "sell". :-)
