It would seem to me that you are going to have to ask the person that said it, or give the context in which it was used. From just those two words, she could have meant any number of things. Sorry

"Category" is the publishing term for those romances that have new titles out every month - ie. Harlequin/Silhoutte. What most people call series or (in the bazaar) "thin" romances.
