I'm new to PBS and I have a question about quick credit. I sent out three books last Friday (8/29). I printed the DC from PBS, but not the postage so I could get the quick credit when it was scanned at the post office. It's been a week and I still haven't gotten my credits. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for the quick credit to go through?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think you only get the quick credit if you print out the postage at PBS.  If you print out the delivery confirmation, I believe they give you the credit when it's marked delivered by the post office--or received by the receiver--whichever comes first.

If you took the book to the post office counter, they will scan it immediately and you will get your credit as soon as the PO syncs their info with the PBS system (usually within 24 hours).  If you drop it in a mailbox, the book may or may not get scanned prior to delivery.  Delivery confirmation means they should scan it at delivery.  Usually it gets scanned at a couple places along the way, but it doesn't always work that way.

I did take it to the post office to be mailed, but it's been a week and still no credit. Hopefully, it will be scanned somewhere along the way, I guess! Thanks afrugalmom!

The DC's work out well.  I always use them.  I've had a couple of instances where they didn't scan them until they arrived, but it works.

Not all post offices scan when you mail the book. DC is "delivery conformation". The PO only has to scan the book on delivery. I use DC 90% of the time. The PO I go to regularly, does scan right at the counter and I get my credit with in a few hours. Another I go to does not scan my books. Usually it will get scanned along the way, most times with in a few days. But I've had many times that the book is only scanned upon delivery. It just all depends.

Edited because I can't spell.

I take my books to the PO. They scan the barcode there in order to charge me for the DC. I usually get my credit within 8 hours.

I think you have to figure out the pattern depending on where you mail.  I know that 9 times out of 10, when I put something with DC in the blue box near my house, it is scanned sometimes during the night at the sorting center 20 miles away.  My Post Office doesn't scan the package at the counter, so the blue box is a good option for me.

But each of us has a different experience.  After you've mailed 5 or 6 books with DC, you should get a sense as to what the pattern is from your mailing point.

Same here, I have a lot of blue boxes on the way to work but the only way that I always got my credit  right away was to bring them to my PO which scans them at the counter.

I guess I am just too impatient for the DC only. I should just pay my postage through PBS and get the instant credit from now on!
