Unless someone has requestor conditions that specify they don't want books that have been exposed to smoke, you should be fine to post/send them without contacting the requestor.  Welcome to the club.

If you want to, you can go to your account, click on My Bookshelf, and click the button that says Edit My Public Header. You can use that space to tell people that you are in a smoking household, have pets, etc. You can also add that information to your profile. However, if people order books from you through the FIFO system, rather than directly from your bookshelf, they won't see that information. But no, you don't have to tell people, just turn them down if they have no smoking conditions on their account.

Thank you both for your help! I just added the information to the header and I'm off to work on my profile. I appreciate knowing what the standards are ahead of time since that helps cut down the highs and lows of the learning curve.

You should also read the complete list of standards before posting anything.  To do so, go to the help center and type "book condition guidelines" into the search box.  Welcome to PBS!

While there is no requirement to do so, when I smoked I tried to air out the books in my garage before sending.  Or I put them in a plastic bin with crumpled newspapers to take some of the smell out.   I never had anyone complain about a book from me and I was a very heavy smoker.        Again there is NO requirement to do this but it would be appreciated I am sure.
