I've had this happen before.  I was looking to see if James Patterson had written any new books. I found him, but no books newer than 2006 are listed. I even clicked on the more button at the very bottom of the page.

So I did a title search of the new 2008 book I am just finishing:
http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780316018722-Cross+Country
and then clicked into his name right from that book---same thing, nothing newer than 2006.

Umm...help?

I checked Amazon and found Run For Your Life - not an Alex Cross.  I just came out this month.

  • Hardcover: 384 pages
  • Publisher: Little, Brown and Company (February 2, 2009)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0316018740
  • ISBN-13: 978-0316018746

Thanks for looking :) I did some poking around at his website. No new Alex Cross books on the horizon yet.

Just want to know why his new books that are listed at PBS aren't showing up under his author list.

I don't know why it is, but I've also found the author lists on this site to be drastically incomplete, with the missing titles and all. It's also not easy to find all the editions or versions of a specific book. I usually use something like the walmart or amazon website open in another window, to double check, if I want information like that. Nothing's perfect, so doubling up helps a bit.

As of yesterday the site was still having a few issues relating to the server problems on Saturday, so I'd try your search again later today.

Just a note - no new Alex Cross on Amazon.  Looks like Cross Crountry was the last - not last book - last written, phew!

I find the author lists to be lacking also.  I've found it better to do an Advanced Search using the authors name & then use the 'narrow results' options below that to search out by publication date.  If you also include WL books you'll see books that aren't released yet also & be able to get on the WL :)

I have found this to be true, as well as finding that newer books are unposted, period.  I have ended up having to search on Amazon and use the ISBN for my searching and it's amazing the number of books by an author who turn up that way. It's bizarre when you do that, find all the books and the author's name seems correct and yet it doesn't appear on the author list.

It may not be the reason why in every case, but since the Author list is a simple DB query, if the author's name has any variation to it in the DB you won't get full results.

For example: James Patterson and James Paterson, or James Patterson and J. Patterson

Sometimes the two can even look perfectly identical, but use characters from different character sets like "Western" and "Unicode"  To a computer the two are very different, no matter that they display the same.

i found this to be true too. one of my favorite authors, Gilbert Morris, when you click on his name in a listing, it only shows his works until the year 2005.but he's had dozens of books published every year since then. type up his name and you see them, but click on his name and it stops at 2005. i've been wondering about this problem myself for a while.
