Intelligent, well-written essays on current culture. Topics include racial, sexual, and political identity. Particularly interesting because the authors explore causes of their own bad behavior, including violence, STD risk-taking, and politcal laziness. Several essays talk about being in the generation after a politcal group (women, homosexuals, Latinos) is recognised and the conflict between wanting to continue work on maintaining the group's acceptance and wanting to take advantage of that acceptance by leading a more individual life.
