Nick Cook (Nicholas Julian Cook, b. 1960) is a British aviation journalist and author of fiction and non-fiction works and has won four Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards from the Royal Aeronautical Society.
From 1987 to 2001, Cook was Aviation Editor of Jane's Defence Weekly, the international defence journal. He is currently the magazine’s Aerospace Consultant. His exclusive stories for Jane's have included reports on Russian secret weapons and a second classified operation to rescue US hostages in Iran. He is also a regular contributor to the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal and writes extensively for other United Kingdom and international media. In his 18 year career, he has visited the world's leading defense establishments and has gained access to numerous top secret military facilities and bases in the US and former Soviet Union. As a regular commentator on defence and security issues, his views and analysis were sought by UK, US, and other world news media during the 1991 and 2003 wars against Iraq and major conflicts in between.
Cook is widely regarded as an expert on military "black projects." His two hour documentary for the Discovery Channel, Billion Dollar Secret, detailed for the first time the secret inner workings of America's classified weapons establishment. He also appeared on the Discovery Channel's Unsolved History series episode Area 51 that aired in February 2005. His documentary, "An Alien History of Planet Earth," was presented by The History Channel in the US in March 2006 and was shown in the UK as "UFOs: The Secret Evidence." Cook adopts a non-judgmental stance when interviewing subjects who clearly believe in UFOs, alien contact, conspiracy theories, and other unusual phenomena.
Cook is also a published author. His ground-breaking book "The Hunt For Zero Point", published by Century Random House in the UK in 2001 and Broadway Books in the US in 2002, details his ten-year investigation into efforts to crack the Holy Grail of aerospace propulsion: anti-gravity technology. The book reached No.1 in the Amazon.com non-fiction chart and no.3 on the general list. Other works by Cook include: "Angel Archangel" and "Aggressor", and a number of ghost-written books including The Sunday Times Bestseller "Sabre Squadron".
Cook is a founding member of the New Energy Congress. In 2008, he founded Dynamixx, a consultancy bringing together the defense industry and the search for solutions to climate change. Cook has a degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies from Exeter University and lives in London.
