Opposition and resistance to the iron cage of western, state-managed rationality is to be found in human embodiment, reciprocity and the concreteness of the everyday world. However, against the pessimism and nostalgia of classical sociology, the authors attempt to develop Nietzsche's "gay science" and the revaluation of values into a joyful sociology of the body, resistance and reciprocity.
