Author of the Prey series moves to Los Angeles. Plenty of action, a bit gory at times (typical Sanford) and an ending not quite what you might have anticipated. A good read.
Good book. Not of the Prey series, but still good. A very tense story, which Sandford is known for and very interesting characters.
you will be hooked to the finish
This was a different kind of book with characters doing a different kind of work! This "crew" worked nights roaming the city streets, looking for stories to film and sell to the tv stations. Things change drastically when one of their own is murdered and it looks like the killer is coming after all of them! Great book!
A action packed fast read! The ending confused me. The last chapter makes no sense to me!
I love John Sandford and this was one of his best! This is a real page turner!!
I've read a couple of his "Prey" books, but this one was good too, with a likeable central character in Anna, and a nice twist regarding the identify of the murderer.
Loved this book. Plenty of action, twists and turns, and kept me guessing right up to the end! Will be getting the next "Night Crew" book!
Different and unqiue. But a great listen to. I loved it too W@w
Very interesting and fast paced and with a slight twist at the end.
GREAT read, I fell in love with Sandford and have yet to find one of his books as being no good, or boring! Attention grabber for sure!
Interesting story of how new stories are found, taped and sold to the media. Usual excellent suspense.
"This is fresh ground for Sanford." - Chicago Tribune
"With its pulse-quickening plot and attractive heroine, you'll be hooked to the finish." - People
Great mystery. Good characters.
Amazing book, I found that I could not put it down!
This author always writes good books!
One of my favorite authors ... he never disappoints!
Not one of his Prey books but very, very good!
John Sanford takes a sabbatical from his widely popular "Prey" series in this book. The writing style in "The Night Crew" is substantially different that his style in the "Prey" books. Two prominent differences are obvious, one is the locatation , Los Angeles as compared to Minneapolis-St. Paul, which has become the center of the "Prey" series and Lucas Davenport. Secondly, in this book, the lead character is a "female". The lead in this book is Anna Batory, a videographer, who is being stalked by an unknown psycho, slowly eliminating everyone she comes in contact with. Another big difference I discovered is that this book is more of a mystery, and somewhat less of a thriller. Nonetheless, the action and suspence hardly let up throughout the book, and lead to a stunning ending. Although not up to the standards of the Lucas Davenport "Prey" series of books, this one is still a taut adventure tale, full of slick villains. Enjoy! Wiley Coyote
a friend said "brutal" and didn't finish it
Bestselling author John Sandford takes all the action and suspense of his acclaimed Prey novels and heads west to the dark gleam of L.A.--where the Night Crew works. A mobile unit of video freelancers, they prowl the midnight streets to sell to the highest network bidder. Murders. Robberies. High-speed chases. For them, it is an exhilerating life. But tonight, two deaths will change everything.
I don't remember the whole plot, but do recall it was an exciting mystery/thriller.
Not my favorite Sandford book. Good story, but I prefer a different character. The night crew is a mobile unit of video freelancers that catch street crime on film and sell the news footage to the highest bidders.
This is an excellent read, great ending.
Anna Batory's evening starts with a frenzied animal rights raid and then moves quickly to the site of a suicide jump. It's all in a normal night's work for Anna, who leads the Night Crew, a freelance video team out to make a quick buck on sensational footage they can sell to L.A. news stations. But this night is different: the jumper is a teenager named Jacob Harper, and Anna's cameraman Jason beats a strangely hasty exit after filming the jump. A few hours later, Jason too is dead: shot and knifed.
quick, easy read, enjoyed it
LA-based thriller about an independent video crew whose filming of a drug-fueld suicide puts them in the crosshairs of an obsessed psychopath.
NIGHT CREW is a mobile unit of video freelancers who prowl the midnight streets for news to sell to the highest bidder....murders, robberies, high speed chases....for them it is an exhilarating life. But tonight, two deaths will change everything.
