An excellent fictional introduction to the Holocaust.
It is 1938 and Jewish families are no longer safe in Austria. Clara knows it will be a long journey to freedom, and that her family can bring only what they can carry in their pockets. Clara picks her two favorite dolls-dolls her grandmother had carried with her when she left Russia. But she never dreams that the dolls she brings along to give her comfort will play such an important part in her family's escape.
