This story was wonderfully touching and romantic. You could really feel yourself being pulled into the feelings of love and desire between Night Hawk and Sarah. The bantering between each other as Night Hawk was able to gently bend and submit Sarah to his ways was touching and believeable. The history of Cheyenne beliefs and the Christian beliefs Sarah was brought up with, was woven into warm comparison of the two. So Sarah found it easy to adapt to the Cheyenne ways and beliefs. This story is full of so much tenderness that it's definetly one you will want to own. It's a keeper.
She was shinningly beautiful her hair a vivid blaze of red, her eyes the burning blue of a fier's heart - and from the moment he saw her, Night Hawk knew she must be his, 'She was his Flame, and the desire to possess her body burned in his blood.
It made no difference that she was a general's daughter, a spoiled, willful Southern belle who was completely unsuited to life as an Indian Squaw. It made no difference that she fought him tooth and nail refusing to bend her proud spirit to his will. All that mattered was the searing ecstasy she would know when he branded her soul with his smoldering love. .
She was the wealthy, spoiled, willful daughter of the General, living in Washington.
He was the proud young Cheyenne war chief of his people.
A beautiful, sought after debutant by the young men of Washington society, Sarah was bored. She was also plagued by disturbing and frightening dreams of a man with compelling midnight eyes, dark hair and a sense that he was important to her future.
Driven by boredom and her troubling re-occurring dreams, this pampered only daughter convinced her father to take her with he and his men as they left to visit the forts out west.
At Fort Laramie, the last stop of their treck before returning to Washington, she saw him...I had to re-read the telling of this moment a few times to savor it. Catherine Hart is an amazing story teller and author.
