Although I normally don't care for authors who write books based on some one else's characters this book surprised me. It is well written, very close to the tenure of Conan Doyle. It is an excellent mystery and will keep you thinking all the way through. It is a great, not good, but great read.
The writing style was tight and flowed. She gripped my attention even though I am not a fan of contempary serial murder mysteries. The book reminded me of Patricia Cornwell without the too graphic gore. The MC is a former FBI profiler who has PTSD, because she was caught by a serial killer she had profiled. She left her job and her husband to move back home and recover, it has been 2 yrs and she still has panic attacks and has been dragged back into law enforcement by a old friend of her fathers in her small town. I truly didn't think I was going to be hooked by this book but it kept my interest and I was engaged with the characters. I never have read the author before but would recommend this book.
